My dog Shady had tore his ACL in his back left leg. Now this was his second one. He tore the right leg several years earlier. At that time, my vet had decided to do the surgery for me. He did a great job, but the healing process was very intense. Since he is not skilled to do those types of surgeries on a regular basis, he could perform one type of procedure that may not necessarily have been the best one. When this one happened, he said that he would do it if my financial state didn't allow me to see a surgeon. After many thoughts, I knew seeing a surgeon was my best choice, since this was now going to be his second leg done.
I met Dr. Malnati and instantly knew that this was definitely the right choice. The procedure that he explained was much more complex then what my vet could have done. Within a few days Shady was in for surgery. My big guy was so stubborn. Dr. called me after the surgery and said that he was already trying to walk on it. For the next few days he took it easy but he was barely limping. He was doing his best to walk on it. The stitch area was very clean and healing nicely.
It's been about 2 months now and if i would have known what I know now a few years ago, I would definitely have opted for the surgeon over my vet the first time around. This healing process and the mobility is about 100% better.
Thank you very much Dr. Malnati and staff. You did an awesome job. We couldn't be happier.
